Common questions about orthodontics

At Braces N Faces Orthodontics, we want all of our patients to feel fully informed about their orthodontic treatment, specifically what their treatment journey entails. Here are some of the common questions our patients ask us about orthodontics:

The answer is simple; because we are very good at what we do. We take great personal pride in the high standard and quality of our patient care. At Braces N Faces we have almost 50 years’ experience between us and our Geelong orthodontists are specialists in the latest orthodontic techniques and technologies, used to create the perfect smile. Please contact us if you’d like to know more about our team.

Treatment times vary between each individual patient. That is because every patient has a different orthodontic need and we tailor treatment plans for every smile. At your free consultation, our Specialist Orthodontist will advise you on how long you will have to wear braces. It could be as little as 6 months, or it could be up to 2 years – it all depends on how much work we need to do to realign your teeth. It's important to note that as an adult, our teeth are fully grown and denser so will take longer to move than children’s teeth.

Rotated teeth are not uncommon and do need to be aligned because they can trap food, which may lead to gum disease / tooth decay. Rotations are one of the many orthodontic problems our specialist orthodontists in Geelong and Hoppers Crossing treat on a daily basis. Our Specialists are experienced in using a variety of correction techniques, including braces, elastics and retainers, so you can be sure of a great result after treatment.

Yes there is! It's an orthodontic treatment method known as Invisalign®, which we offer here at Braces N Faces. Suitable for teens and adults, Invisalign® uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to gently move your teeth into position. Invisalign® is a big winner with our patients at our Geelong and Hoppers Crossing clinics because the aligners are virtually invisible, meaning people can access subtle treatment as no one will be able to tell you're wearing the aligners.

It’s a little hard to answer that question without knowing the nature of the problem. Our specialist orthodontists have successfully treated a wide variety of orthodontic problems, from crowded and crooked teeth to misaligned bites, and achieved straight teeth and beautiful smiles for all our patients. Rather than wondering whether our orthodontists can help you, book a free consultation and come in and see us.

If you suffer from achy teeth and jaws, you might be suffering from bruxism, also known as teeth grinding. Many people who grind their teeth, usually when they’re asleep, wake with aching jaws and sensitive teeth. Bruxism can lead to tooth damage but the damage is easily preventable by a nightguard, which our specialist orthodontists can prescribe for you. A night guard is a special type of mouthguard which patients wear at night to stop the damage caused by grinding teeth or jaw clenching. Get in touch with Braces N Faces if you need advice about tooth and/or jaw pain.
