Meet the Braces N Faces team

We've been making residents of Geelong and Hoppers Crossing smile for over 30 years.

Headed up by Dr Hashmat and Dr Sama, meet the rest of the friendly faces behind Braces N Faces Orthodontics.

'Hash' gained his Bachelor of Dental Science from Bristol University, United Kingdom, in 2000. After graduating, he travelled to Australia to work at Sydney Dental Hospital and then for Queensland Health before moving back to the UK to complete his specialist orthodontic training at Cardiff University in 2008.

Hash continued to work for Cardiff University while completing a PhD. During this time he also took on a senior academic role on the Specialty Training Programme at the School of Dentistry, which prepares postgraduate dentists to become specialist orthodontists. He has published over 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conducted research projects in all aspects of orthodontics, including Invisalign®.

Hash has a wide range of clinical experience and can offer treatment to both children and adults using traditional metal braces, ceramic (white) braces or Invisalign®.

Hash has established a superb professional reputation in the region since his move to Geelong from a large private practice in Melbourne CBD. He has excellent working relationships with local referring dentists and other specialist practitioners. He looks forward to meeting you and your family!

Jae qualified as a general dentist in 2015 after completing his dentistry training at Griffith University in Queensland. After several years of practicing across Queensland and New South Wales, he pursued his long-term passion for orthodontics, undertaking a 3-year full-time specialist training program at the Eastman Dental Institute and Hospital in London, United Kingdom. The Eastman Dental Institute is regarded as one of the most prestigious and largest postgraduate dental education centres in Europe.

During his specialist training, he conducted research on enhancing the longevity of orthodontic retainers, which was published in the peer-reviewed European Journal of Orthodontics.

He is a specialty member in orthodontics by examination with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

In addition to perfecting and crafting smiles, Jae enjoys cooking, running, and exploring diverse landscapes, and he is an enthusiastic supporter of Tottenham Hotspur and the All Blacks.

Dr Gloria is an experienced orthodontist based in Melbourne, with international training in India, Malaysia, the UK, and New Zealand. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Malaysia in 2011 and completed a bridging program at the University of Otago in 2015. In 2016, she moved to London to specialise in orthodontics, earning a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London.

Her clinical focus includes early interceptive treatment for children and adolescents, emphasising jaw growth and development. Dr Gloria presented her research on occlusal plane changes during growth at the European Orthodontic Congress in Nice, France, in 2019.

Dr Gloria is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and is active in professional organisations such as the British and European Orthodontic Societies, the World Federation of Orthodontists, and the Australian Dental Association. She is also joining the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Outside work, she enjoys Pilates, pickleball, and outdoor activities with her family.

Zahraa completed her Master of Dentistry at Griffith University, graduating with Distinction and contributing to research during her studies. After working as a general dentist in Geelong and Ballarat, she discovered a strong interest in orthodontics and went on to successfully complete the RACDS Primary Dental Examinations before beginning her specialist orthodontic training at the University of Adelaide.

During her specialist training, Zahraa gained extensive experience across multiple areas of orthodontics and was actively involved in teaching undergraduate dental students. Her research focused on Invisalign® treatment and led to publications in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals, as well as presentations at orthodontic conferences across Australia.

Zahraa offers orthodontic care for children and adults, with experience in a range of treatment options. Known for her warm and kind-hearted demeanour, she helps patients and their families feel comfortable and supported throughout their orthodontic journey.
